MEDITATION

WHY MEDITATION? 

Simply because Meditation facilitates transformation.  When the body is relaxed and the mind is focused you are in a state of "allowing" and this is an integral part of how to be healthy.

It is the opposite to being in resistance, avoidance or denial which is at the core of many health issues.  

Meditation is easy to learn and the benefits are immense.

Meditation is an active process of increasing awareness of your body, mind, feelings, sensations and your environment. It is about learning to create harmony and balance in your everyday life during and outside of the practice.  A process of perpetually coming back to the present moment.

Meditation can be many different things to different people.  Its purpose can be to relax, reduce stress, or relieve physical, emotional or mental pain.  It can also be used to heighten awareness of both seen and unseen energies in your environment

Everyone can meditate.  Simply watching a flame or a leaf  falling from a tree, or a bird in a pond is a form of meditation when the mind is focused.

With practice you are able to string these "aware" moments together into a continuum - remaining present not only whilst sitting but all the time.

The pathway to inner peace, harmony, increased awareness, and good health is dramatically accelerated through a regular practice of meditation

• Assists concentration—trains you to focus on one thing at a time
• Assists to remove conditioning and false beliefs
• Balances left & right brain activity - (Each hemisphere of the brain      
  governs the motor co-ordination of the opposite side of the body)
• Builds self confidence
• Can help to resolve the deepest of neuroses, fears and conflict
• Dramatically affects hormonal activity and reduces pre-menstrual    
  syndrome
• Heightens Awareness – enhances sensing and feeling
• Increases serotonin production which influences mood and behaviour.     
  Low levels of serotonin are associated with depression, obesity,   
  insomnia and headaches
• Increases blood circulation to the digestive tract, the skin and the brain
• Increase in patience
• Lowers high blood pressure
• Makes  it easier to give up life-damaging addictions like smoking, drugs 
  and alcohol
• Makes it easier to reduce weight
• Opens constricted air passages -(particularly good for asthmatics or hay 
  fever suffers)
• Posture can improve when balanced correctly
• Puts verbal thought in the background and creates a space for inspiration 
  to arise
• Reduces anxiety
• Reduces physical pain
• Reduces activity of viruses and emotional distress
• Releases muscular tension
• Stimulates the immune system and production of white blood cells – 
  Helps in post operative healing
• Trains you to be in the present moment
• You can activate the right side of the brain and dream consciousness 
  while fully awake.  This promotes the flashes of insight that often emerge 
  in daydream
• Assists pregnant women to become attuned with their unborn child
